Fun

Henry County has a lot of natural resources that offer outdoor activities, on top of many community events that draw hundreds of attendees.  We have miles of trails within parks and along our riverfront spanning throughout the whole county.  Running through Henry County along the Maumee River is a section of the Buckeye Trail.   It follows along the Miami and Erie Canal on the towpath most of the way through Napoleon and on past Providence to Waterville, Ohio.  This historic canal was the water highway that led to the growth of our region, which you can hike beside for nearly 24-miles throughout Henry County.  Napoleon is also home to a beautiful nine-hole municipal golf course, Golf Pro Shop and driving range.  In 2021, Napoleon welcomed a new public aquatic center and golf clubhouse, bringing us up to speed with some of our neighboring counties and newer public facilities.  But what our neighbors do not have is one of the few remaining drive-in theatres left in the US (only 325 left).  Field of Dreams is a family owned and operated drive-in theatre in Liberty Center.  Henry County also is home to Leader’s Farm, which is home to the first corn maize in Ohio and northwest Ohio’s premier Agri-tourism destination.  Both bring in hundreds, if not thousands, to our county!  Henry also has plenty of community events like the Hamler Summer Fest, the Tiger-Town 5000 race in Liberty Center, Napoleon Triathlon, and Rib-fest just to name a few.  And of course, when the weather is right, we have over twenty-three miles of Maumee River access through the county.  Canoeing, kayaking, exploring, and organized events such as the Buckethead Barefoot Endurance Race and Board Bash, a World Wake Association sanctioned grass roots event, take full advantage of our riverfront.  You can even buy yourself some Muddy Maumee apparel.
